Late April and early May are very stressful times for college students. The schoolwork gets plentiful, the end of the year projects that were being put off are now due, and the final exams that determine the course grade are approaching. Being a senior in college, I can 100% relate with the above sentence, fighting to stay awake to finish long papers and completing large group projects on time. How do I cope with such grueling expectations?
I grab my camera.
Photography has a calming effect, an inexpensive form of therapy that allows the right side of the brain to thrive, giving the left side of the brain time to rest. With the stress of calculations, equations, and various analyses, the act of creating art through snapshots allows my creativity to flow right into the photo.
The best part about a hobby is that there is no extreme pressure to succeed. I am merely doing what I love, sharing my work with the world, and displaying the beauty of our breathtaking planet.
